28th-30th May 2010

2010 sees the return of open-to-all international racing to Scotland with the first round of the iXS European Cup. With racing taking place at the legendary venue of Innerleithen in the Scottish Borders close times and great competition are guaranteed. So for the first time since 2000 you can pit yourself against the world’s best riders as they descend upon Scotland for the famous World Cup just one week later in Fort William. With many great riders already on the cards to race this event it promises to be a fantastic action packed weekend for both riders and spectators alike.

The May bank holiday weekend kicks off with a course inspection from midday on Friday and an afternoon of practice followed by a free pre-race party. From then on it’s down to business with practice on Saturday in which every competitor must complete at least two full runs followed by a seeding run in the afternoon which will dictate the running order for Sunday. And once Sunday dawns it’s down to racing, with final timed runs following on from a short period of morning free practice to get riders up to speed after a night spent enjoying the local hospitality.

iXS Cup Innerleithen is brought to you by Innerleithen MTB Racing, with the support of Vattenfall, Scottish Borders Council, Macdonalds Hotel Cardrona and i-Cycles of Innerleithen.

Entries are now live.

Orange Switch 6er. Stif Squatcher. Schwalbe Magic Mary Purple Addix front. Maxxis DHR II 3C MaxxTerra rear. Coil fan. Ebikes are not evil. I have been a writer for nigh on 20 years, a photographer for 25 years and a mountain biker for 30 years. I have written countless magazine and website features and route guides for the UK mountain bike press, most notably for the esteemed and highly regarded Singletrackworld. Although I am a Lancastrian, I freely admit that West Yorkshire is my favourite place to ride. Rarely a week goes by without me riding and exploring the South Pennines.
