Don't get me wrong, I love racing and am prepared to travel (from Hants) to Scotland BUT the last national series round in 2008 at Drumlanrig had a low turnout from 'English/Welsh' riders but even most of those who race SXC didn't seem to turn up either. Even the National Champs at Inners in 2009 was also a low turnout in all categories, again the thinking that being in Scotland would mean more Scottish riders which would therefore balance those 'English/Welsh' riders who didn't travel. This 'balance' however doesn't seem to happen, it's like SXC riders don't want to do a National Series round. Moan all you want, but to make a Scottish round viable requires more people to attend when its on. All comes down to money, and the fact that a round in Scotland = £loss. But the BMBS is much bigger, a huge amount more infrastructure to move in, far more people and (for whatever reason) it's simply proved a bit too much this time round. And there's the crux of it - it's a perfect place for sponsors to go and advertise/demo but if you tried to close half the trails just so a few hundred people can race on it you'll upset a lot of regular trail riders who just want a day out.
